WJCC Equity Report
We compiled data to showcase the gaps in achievement, gaps in access to gifted and advanced programs, and disproportionate discipline rates in WJCC. Based on these statistics, we advocate needs-based funding and the recruitment and retainment of teachers of color as key policy tools to achieve these goals.
The Village continues to advocate for the passage of an equitable school budget. We will continue to attend school board meetings and speak to board members to ensure equity is always part of the conversation. Equity matters because all kids deserve opportunities to succeed.
The Village played an active role in the recent WJCC redistricting discussion, vocally supporting the redistricting of the middle and high schools. Though the school board ultimately opted to redistrict middle school only, we were successful in urging the board to consider equity when drawing the new maps.
